You Don't Have to Grieve Alone: Join the Grief Support Group in Clare

    2 min read

Grief can feel like the loneliest experience in the world β€” even when you're surrounded by people who love you. The weight of loss is deeply personal, and it can be hard to imagine that anyone truly understands what you're going through.

But you don't have to carry this alone. Grief support groups offer a space where people who are walking similar paths come together β€” not to fix each other, but to listen, share, and simply be present.

At Circles of Grief in Clare, Nova Scotia, we gather on the third Tuesday of every month at the Clare Health Centre. Our group is led by trained Volunteer Supporters who have experienced loss themselves.

There's no pressure to speak. Some people share right away; others just listen for months. Both are exactly right. The circle is yours however you need it to be.

What makes a grief support group different from talking to friends or family is that everyone in the room understands grief from the inside. There's no need to explain yourself, no fear of being too much, and no timeline for healing.

If you're thinking about joining but feel nervous, that's completely normal. Most people feel that way before their first session. Just know: you are welcome here, exactly as you are. Come when you're ready. We'll be here.

However you're feeling right now β€” whether you're ready to join a conversation or just quietly reading β€” you're doing enough. Support is here when you're ready.
